Whipped into Shape
First Citadel show I can give five stars. Super energetic and upbeat from start to finish. There's never a dull moment, and the whole thing just fits together. I love how they keep using the big songs like "Omigod You Guys" and "What About Love" as background music running under the scenes. It ties everything together.
Elle was amazing. Great vocals across the whole range, from the low notes right up to the high ones. A powerhouse of a voice and beautiful too.
Emmett has a great voice as well. During "Chip on Your Shoulder" it got a little shaky on the high parts, but he more than redeemed himself in the second act.
Paulette sounded amazing. She really nailed the shy, low-confidence hairdresser and made the part her own.
The rest of the cast held up just as well. The Delta Nu members were tightly choreographed and meshed together beautifully.
My favorite number, though, is "Whipped Into Shape." It's a little crazy to watch. They dance, skip, gallop, and leap, all while singing and swinging jump ropes.
A really great show. It honestly feels like they built the whole thing around the music and the characters.
I loved this one so much that I went back and saw it a second time.
