Disney's Aladdin

Let me start with the seats, because it shaped the night a little. Ours were a bit rough and the stage was tough to see from where we sat. Worth spending up for better seats if you can, because there is a lot happening visually in this show and you want to catch all of it.

This was a no-fly production, which mostly worked fine but made A Whole New World feel a little off. Instead of the magic carpet actually lifting, they danced around the palace during the number, and it came across as rushed and slightly awkward. It is the emotional centerpiece of the show, so losing the flight took some of the wonder out of it.

Friend Like Me was staged so well that it is honestly the best single number I have seen on a stage. The Genie carried it and then some. Energetic, lively, and genuinely funny. He was the heart of the whole production.

The one letdown was Jafar. He never quite found the menace the role needs. He was fine, but a great Aladdin lives on how much you hate the villain and this one felt a little soft.

Overall a great production and Friend Like Me alone was worth the ticket.
